Thanks to Jane Bozarth, and her book Social Media for Trainers, which I must now pick up if it has gems like this in it, I found this nifty service called HootCourse.

Basically, as an instructor, you use existing services like Twitter, WordPress, Facebook to give your students/participants the social learning aspect, without creating another identity especially for the class.

You can share links, ask questions, write “essays” which are blog posts (this thing, but without the categories/tags (as I’m writing on the hootcourse interface).  There’s something called “Hoots” – I’m not sure what that is, but I am going to play with this to see how well it works and what applications it might have.
