The challenge

The Business Process and Systems team supports internal clients on three continents, dealing with multiple time zones, language barriers, and cultural differences. They needed training and support on remote engagement, communication and meetings to enable them to service their clients, develop strong relationships and meet project deadlines.

The Solution

Through several phases, Spark + Co worked with the team to capture their challenges, develop rules of engagement that would work in virtual conversations, fine-tune decision-making processes to suit dispersed stakeholders and co-create remote meeting practices to engage and empower participants. Live virtual training was also developed to meet the unique needs of the organization and was delivered by Spark + Co. Through this training, we introduced techniques that added visual elements to ensure those who did not have English as their first language to fully participate, techniques that were participatory to ensure that all meeting participants “had skin in the game” and techniques that ensured meetings moved at the right pace.

Deliverables
  • Three toolkits that outlined how to set up, run and participate in a remote meeting
  • Four custom designed live virtual training sessions, which included activities that the participants would lead to ensure proper transfer of learning
  • Train-the-trainer information to enable the organization to run their own sessions
  • Five x five minute screencast videos that supported internal trainers by demonstrating advanced remote meeting facilitation techniques
